The Water & Protection division

The Water & Protection division of DuPont enables customers to win through unique capabilities, global scale, and iconic brands including Corian®, Kevlar®, Nomex®, Tyvek®, Styrofoam™ and FILMTEC™. As part of the Tyvek® growth plan, DuPont are seeking an Intellectual Property Manager f/m, who will work alongside the scientists and engineers developing new products and technology, to ensure their protection for the benefit of DuPont, its customers, and its partners. This position will be located at the Luxembourg Manufacturing site and R&D center.

Primary Responsibilities:

In this position, you will be reporting to the Global Technology Director for the Tyvek® and Typar® Business.

You will work closely with an international team of R&D, Engineering and Application Development experts, along with internal and external Legal resources, to protect innovations and support the wider business worldwide.

DuPont is looking for a creative mind who can understand their technology, their innovation, and the IP landscape, and apply strategic thinking to leverage their potential for DuPont.

The ideal candidate should have a strong and broad-based technical background and at least five years’ experience in dealing with intellectual property, in particular patents and trade secrets.

More specifically, responsibilities include:

  • Acting as contact point for all questions relating protection of trade secrets and intellectual property rights.
  • Providing regular training and coaching for the wider organisation on the protection of trade secrets and confidential information.
  • Working with the Legal Department and all other functions to facilitate external collaboration through appropriate use of Confidential Disclosure Agreements, Joint Development Agreements, memberships of research consortia, etc.
  • Guiding researchers in recognizing potentially patentable inventions and conducting the necessary patentability research and analysis.
  • Facilitating effective collaboration between inventors and IP Lawyers to ensure timely filing of high-quality patent applications and follow-up on patent office actions.
  • Monitoring of the IP landscape and providing leadership with regular briefings on and recommendations for responses to potential opportunities and threats.
  • Continuous improvement of our processes for protecting Intellectual Property.

This job may require occasional travel.

Qualifications:

  • At least a Master’s degree in chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, materials science, or a comparable field.
  • Further post-graduate education in Patent Engineering, IP Management or related studies.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant career experience in IP management in an industrial context, ideally including prior art searching and analysis, patentability analysis, conceiving responses to patent office actions, etc.
