Viessmann is looking for IP experts who would like to make their mark in this new era of digital business. Within the scope of a joint program of the MIPLM and the Dieselmedaille graduate school, candidates will receive education in IP management and complete a PhD in IP Management at CEIPI.

Viessmann is well-positioned when it comes to digitization. Not only is Chief Digital Officer Joachim Janssen now CEO of this heating systems expert worth 2.25 billion, but the company is also looking for support in IP management to fill the resource gap for executing powerful IP strategies during the digital era. Viessmann is one of Germany’s key players in the energy revolution and develops highly innovative digital business models.

 

Job profile:

  • Implementation, continuous development, and management of a group-wide, cross-departmental IP strategy process to protect business models and innovation
  • Derivation of a cross-company IP strategy from the business model, including sub-strategies for digitization / Industry 4.0 and individual innovation projects (in collaboration with external consultants)
  • Management and implementation of cross-departmental IP strategy workshops to define specific IP needs (in collaboration with external consultants)
  • Monitoring and identification of industry-relevant market, consumer, and technology trends, as well as derivation of potential impacts on the strategic direction of business models, products, and future customer needs
  • Autonomous design and conduct of market research and analytical activities in the international market environment
  • Preparation of reports as a basis for management decision-making
  • Expansion and maintenance of internal and external information networks
  • Internal contact for questions concerning the protection of business models and innovations
  • Coordination / involvement of external experts (patent attorneys, consultants, research service providers)
  • Raising of employee awareness for intellectual property

Candidate profile:

  • Successful completion of a technical degree, ideally with a focus on or additional qualification in technology / innovation or IP management
  • Relevant experience in the field of intellectual property rights (technical and non-technical IP)
  • Project experience in digitalization / IoT / Industry 4.0 desirable
  • First experiences in the field of design thinking desirable
  • Several years of professional experience in product management, (strategic) innovation management, business development, or market intelligence environments
  • Strong background in managing cross-departmental projects
  • Good analytical and conceptual skills
  • Convincing communication and presentation skills
  • Interest and first experiences in the conception and implementation of digital transformation projects as well as the conception of innovative business models, ecosystems, and technologies
  • Strong entrepreneurial thinking, customer and solution orientation, high self-motivation, creativity, and inventiveness
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office
  • Willingness to travel
  • Fluency in English (in speaking and writing)
