The Internet of Things (IoT) or the fourth industrial revolution is neither a short-term phenomenon nor a buzzword. Single enterprises are not capable of influencing the trend towards a digitization of business processes, nor can they change the globalization of value chains. Digital business models demand new solutions for IP protection. In some industries (e.g. IT, telecoms, and software), such prohibitive right strategies have been in use for many years. However, the need to protect new business models is also becoming increasingly important for other industries. Join this workshop series to learn how to protect digital business models in practice.
This program is dedicated to training IP management executives working in both industrial and institutional settings. The MIPLM program has been providing IP experts from all over the world with IP management skills since 2006. Using concrete best practice case studies from different industries, it aims to demonstrate how the protection of business models can be achieved in real-world scenarios. The examples range from Vorwerk’s food processor, the Thermomix, and the organizational implementation of the corresponding strategy to the IP strategy and management practice of CLAAS and their digital revolution in agriculture. Furthermore, Rittal’s IOT and smart production will be discussed. The aim of the workshops is to provide insights into industry-specific aspects of IP strategy development, practical issues in systematic synthetic invention, IP protection of perceived customer benefits, and sustainable organizational change. A claims structure workshop for digital patents is also on the agenda.
This program, which will take place from 29 to 30 November 2018 in Strasbourg, is dedicated to training IP management executives working in both industrial and institutional settings. The workshop program is primarily aimed at IP professionals, but it is also open to graduate students who are interested in these topics.
